Data Science Nigeria (DSN) is a non-profit run and managed by the Data Scientists Network Foundation. Our vision is to accelerate Nigeria’s development through a solution-oriented application of machine learning in solving social/business problems and to galvanize data science knowledge revolution, which can position Nigeria to become the outsourcing hub for international Data Science/Advanced Analytics/Big Data projects, with opportunity to access at least 1% share of the global big data and analytics market, valued at $150b in 2017 ($203b in 2020).

 DSN just concluded it's five-day all expense paid boot camp for Inter Campus Machine Learning and Deep Learning Nigeria from 10th October - 14th October, 2018 where it opened its Artificial Intelligence (AI) club for universities and secondary schools.

DSN is making strides and it is going to be bigger come next year. Watch out!!!!

Boko haram siezes lake Chad from Nigerian army

Niger’s army is fighting to recapture an island in Lake Chad after it was seized by hundreds of Boko Haram militants aboard motorised canoes, army sources said on Sunday. Boko Haram, hardline Islamists who want to establish a caliphate in the region, attacked the island of Karamga at dawn on Saturday, their second attempt to capture it since February, army and government sources said. Lake Chad’s islands, which lie in dense swampland, are an ideal base for mounting surprise attacks on the countries bordering the lake: Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria. “There were many (Niger soldiers) dead on Saturday, considerably more than in the first attack,” said one of the army sources, referring to a battle in February in which seven Niger soldiers died.
