Monday, October 3 declared work-free day to mark Nigeria's 56th Independence



The announcement was made via a statement released by the Acting Permanent Secretary of
the Ministry of Interior, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido on Thursday, September 29.
The statement reads:
“The Minister of Interior, Lt Gen (rtd)
Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, while making
the declaration on behalf of the Federal
Government, congratulates Nigerians at home
and abroad on the commemoration of this
year’s independence anniversary and assures
them that Government is working assiduously
to put in place various palliative measures to
cushion the effects of the current economic
challenges.”
The initial date, October 1 falls on Saturday which is a work free day that is why is had to be postponed till Monday, October 3 to mark Nigeria's 56th Independence
