CHAPTER TEN. HE MIGHT BE THE ONE

Image
CHAPTER TEN "Mom why are you cooking so much food this early?" I asked when I saw several dishes on the kitchen counter. "You know today is Sunday, we are going to church and those little angels at the Sunday School will be expecting their delicious treats." "You keep spoiling them." I said upset to see her stressing herself out. She came closer and covered my right cheek with her left hand, with a smile she said. "Let me spoil them Atinuke mi, then God will surely make my only child's life so beautiful that people will say that God is spoiling her." Whatever mom has done till date has always been for me. When she joined the choir, she joined it to sing to the God so that he hears her voice and fulfills all her daughter's heart desires.  She fed twenty people before I went for my first job interview. She gave the orphanage all of my old clothes so that I would never get an F (Fail) in university. She has done everything she could for me...

CHAPTER NINE "Ahh, what arrogance."  I watched as he went away and then hissed and went back to my apartment. "How could I expect him to be of help to me. That...that....." I rolled my eyes as a murmured this words to myself. I spent thirty minutes looking for a new dress to wear. All I had was office wears, I rarely go out for any event. Though I like talking a lot sometimes but I am not that social. "Gosh, I am in so much trouble now. That dress was the best I had."  I was about to put on the only skirt and top that could possibly fit into a wedding style when I heard a heavy knock on my door. My heart missed a beat and I almost ran into my room to hid. "Will you open the door or not?" A manly voice asked. How could I not recognize that voice, that is obviously Sam's voice. "What is he looking for now?" I asked myself. I decided to open the door slightly so that he wouldn't be able to talk too much nonsense and I questioned ...

CHAPTER SEVEN I opened my eyes, I could still hear the loud music but I was on my bed sweating and I wasn't the younger me in that garden or with my mom and friends. Sadly I realized "It was just a dream. All of that was a long dream, I can't believe it. It felt so real." Well it is real, a realistic dream because this was what happened to us several years ago, that time was when my dad abadoned us, he simply disappeared without any goodbyes. I looked around me, there wasn't anyone around. I started getting angry "Who are those people playing music at my window. Are they mad or something? Let me check who they are. I will teach them some manners." I got down from bed. Tied the rope of my night gown, wore my slippers and went outside.  "Thank you very much for coming to my house warming party, I really appreciate." Said a black, pointed noise, curly thick black afro hair, big deep black eyes young man.  He continued speaking. "Do you all ...

CHAPTER SIX The principal gave the mic to Mr Samson the exam officer, he opened the paper and started calling out the names. "From JSS 1 the 3rd position goes to Eniola Ajao, please a round of applause for our little shinning star." Everyone started clapping as she went and collected her gift and a hug from the vice principal, her parents also went with her. "They must be very proud, I wish I can also make my parents proud today." I said to myself as I watched the happy parents hug their daughter.  Mr Samson continue calling the names. Ibrahim Sada from JSS 3 got 1st position, a round of applause for Ibrahim. Everyone cheered loudly. "Ibrahim is a very brilliant boy, born into the family of twelve children, his mother is a Christian and his father is a Muslim, his mother ran away with Ibrahim and his little brother because she didn't want to be in a polygamous marriage, she raised her children as a single mother." Mr Samson kept on calling the names,...

His wife is also a teacher, she teaches agriculture in the junior classes but she is way different from her husband, she is very harsh. "I wonder how he could marry such a woman. She also acts like a witch." We went to the large Amina hall and found ourselves two seats among the other debaters.  The principal came into the hall to inform us that the debate will commence very soon and that fellow debaters should please get ready and be comfortable in their seats. Parents were asked to sit behind, so that students will be able to see the debaters clearly.   CHAPTER FOUR "Mom... Okay I am so sorry but I didn't feel that it was that important for you to know about it." "Every little details about your life is important to me because I am your mother and it's my duty to guide and protect you from any danger. So from now on Tinu, always tell me everything okay?" "Okay mom. I promise, pinky promise." I said smiling. "Good, even if you don't want to put on glasses, you should wear your headband and come downstairs quickly." "Alright ma." Mom smiled and went out. I quickly wore the headband and went straight to the dinning table. My parents were already there waiting for me to join them, for it's a family tradition. No one eats until the family is complete. "Sorry mom and dad for coming late." "No problem. Just come and sit down." I drew out a chair and sat down. I looked at Daddy Zee all decked up in his white body hug T-shirt showing his masculine build and...

CHAPTER THREE. HE MIGHT BE THE ONE

CHAPTER THREE "No wonder I have been experiencing lots of bad omens since morning apart from the fact that I met Loda after a long time. Sam of all people, the most annoying and terrible person I have ever met." Well that's my opinion of him. "If you are looking for a very bad neighbor, Sam is a good example. He has lots of bad habits. He seems to be such a crazy person, always looking for trouble and being a nuisance to everyone around him including the other neighbors." Not that they have ever complained. "They always give complaint about him every time but there is nothing we can do than to tolerate him." That's a conclusion I drew after seeing Mrs Anderson speaking to him angrily.  "To worsen the matter, he seems to have a problem with me every time, he pesters me alot. He's only been here for four months but for me it feels like it been a year." This one is true, I guess he has a crush on me. Who wouldn't?       THREE MONTH...

She came over to where I stood staring at her in disbelief and suddenly hugged me.  I smiled. "Loda.... Oh my God, long time, how have you been doing?" I asked in excitement and shock. "I thank God, I have been doing very well and you? How are mummy and daddy?" She asked, her voice sounding a little bit deeper than before and she even spoke like those oyinbo (white people). "They are all fine jare and yours? Are your l parents still in America?" I asked. "No, we all came back for my cousin's wedding." "Wow that's good." "I missed you a lot Tinu." Loda said with a sudden sadness. "Me too dear."   "Loda I am so sorry but I have to go out for some impor...

CHAPTER ONE. HE MIGHT BE THE ONE

CHAPTER ONE  It was a beautiful Saturday morning. I woke up to the first rays of sunlight lighting up my room through the silky curtain on my window.  I rubbed my bleary eyes and walked to the window. There was a pearly glow in the sky, another day has dawned bringing with it new hopes and aspirations.  I love Saturdays because I didn't have to rush to take my bath or prepare only egg and bread or even in a hurry to beat traffic and get to work early. It was 7:20am and I have to go out for my morning run.  I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth, the water from the tap was a bit warm and I loved it that way. When I was done, I went to my wardrobe to change into something befitting for my walk. I found my black track suit with a white stripe at the edge. I love this particular one because it suits me well and I feel more comfortable in it. At exactly 8:50am, I got back home. I went to the bathroom to take my bath. After taking my bath, I went to my wardrobe ...

CELEBRITY LOVE STORY COMPILATION (REMA)

CELEBRITY LOVE STORY COMPILATION               (REMA) SHORT STORY I met someone on Tiktok, we chatted for a few days and he invited me to his place in Lagos, I was living in Ibadan. Although anxious about visiting because of the current situation of our dear country, I still gathered courage and agreed to go. I arrived at Lagos two days after he transferred the transportation fare to me. I was picked up from the park by a very handsome man who wasn't my host because he was fair and my host was dark in complexion. We got to the house and met Bukola, the man I came to see. He gave me a tight hug but I immediately dodged him when he tried to kiss my lips. I noticed the disappointment on his face and his indifference in character towards me afterwards. He stayed back in the room after dropping my small traveling box and I was left alone in the living room. He couldn't even offer me anything, although I would have declined even if he did. To my surpr...
