CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE, LIFE VS DEATH 2

Then he suddenly got up and went to the nursery where Mylar's baby was kept.

"Can I take the little girl?" He asked the lady nurse who was tending to the crying children.

"Are you the father?" The nurse asked after taking her eyes away from the little infant she held in her arms.

"No, but I am Elio Wylder, the baby's uncle, younger brother to Camilo Wylder," Elio replied with pleading eyes.

"I am sorry sir but I can't allow you to take the child."

"Let him." Said a teary voice from behind them, it was Camilo.

"He's my brother, he won't harm the child."

The nurse agreed after a while of thinking it through, she brought out the little girl wrapped in the pink blanket they brought to the hospital, the blanket Mylar knitted herself.

"Here you go, gently." The nurse said as she handed the baby to Elio.

Camilo couldn't bear to look at his child's face. Earlier on when he was asked what the child's name would be, he had ignored them and said nothing because deep inside he blamed the little angel for Mylar's condition.

Elio took the child, thanked the nurse, and made his way to Mylar's ward. The doctor ordered them earlier on not to disturb the patient but Elio barged in without permission.

"Elio, what are you doing?" Camilo asked as he ran after him into the ward. Mylar's face was pale as she lay down breathing heavily under the oxygen mask, she looked thinner in their eyes at that moment.

"Elio, I am talking to you," Camilo yelled when he saw that Elio ignored him.

Shhhh!! Elio hushed at Camilo. He went close to Mylar and placed the baby on the bed by her side.

"Mylar! Seriously you are becoming annoying now." Elio said and scoffed at her.

"Unbelievable, if anyone saw you bragging some days ago they wouldn't believe you would go into a deep sleep now. You promised me."

"No, you promised this little angel." He corrected himself.

"You promised to name your child immediately after giving birth to her but look at you now, it's been hours and you are busy sleeping. You should have told me her name when you know that you will be needing some rest." Elio kept talking while Camilo watched.

Vida came in as well, she tried to make Elio leave but he wouldn't listen so she ran outside to call in the doctor and nurses to help her out since Camilo himself wasn't trying to stop Elio.

"Mylar, get up!!!!!!!!." Elio yelled startling the little girl, she immediately started crying.

When the baby started crying, Camilo decided to intervene.

"That's enough Elio. Leave this room now." He said and tried to drag Elio out but Elio resisted.

"Look at her, she needs her mother. You can't fall into some stupid coma, who's gonna take care of her the way you will."

"Camilo?" Elio asked.

"He can't even bear to look at his child, his blood. Will you keep allowing this to happen to your daughter?"

The doctor and nurses rushed in and grabbed Elio, the baby kept crying harder while Elio kept yelling.

"You have to listen to your baby's cry. You have to."

They dragged him to the door and one of the nurses went to pick up the child. The baby's hand was caught in something and the nurse tried to remove it. When she looked down, she gasped at what she saw.

Mylar was holding her daughter's hand with her eyes closed. The doctor rushed towards her and started examining her, they all let go of Elio's hands.

Camilo and Vida rushed towards Mylar and stood behind the doctor waiting for him to finish what he was doing. Elio watched from afar with the rest of the nurses.

Mylar slowly opened her eyes and whispered underneath the mask.

"My baby." The nurse quickly brought the child to Mylar and placed the little girl by her side. Tears dropped out of both her eyes as she used her finger to feel the baby's face.

Everyone was asked to leave after Mylar regained her strength and because she needed to breastfeed the child.

"Thank you," Camilo said quietly to Elio.

"Why are you thanking me?" Elio asked.

"If you didn't do what you did, Mylar might not have woken up," Camilo replied.

Elio smiled and said.

"I'm glad she's fine."

He went away to the cafeteria.

"I need a favor from you," Mylar said to Vida and she came closer to listen to the favor.

"Are you sure you can go there yourself?" Vida asked after a while.

"Yes, I am quite sure," Mylar said.

Vida took Mylar's child in her arms and lay on the bed with her while Mylar left the room in Vida's dress.

She got to the doctor's office after dodging the people around and went in without asking for permission.

The doctor was startled by this, he was about to shout but stopped after she took off the veil on her face.

"Mrs Wylder, what's the meaning of this?" The doctor asked his face pale.

"Sorry for scaring you doc. It's just that I came to get the result of the medicine I gave you some time ago."

"Oh about that. I kept the result in a safe place waiting for when you would come to the hospital but you never came." Doc said.

"I haven't had time but you have the result with you right?"

"Yes, I do." He replied and opened a small door on the wall, he pressed some code before opening it and then he brought out the envelope.

He sat back down and gave her the envelope, Mylar quickly opened it and checked.

"That drug is not to cure mental illness, that drug destroys, worsens the mental health." The doctor said as Mylar went through the papers.

"This means that Miss Emelda is destroying mother-in-law's health." Mylar thought to herself.

"But is father-in-law aware of this?" Mylar asked herself.

"Thank you doc." She said to him and he smiled at her. She went to the door and went out.
