CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT, PAIN AND JOY 2

 Sara Rodriguez is a woman in her early forties. She got pregnant when she was twenty years old after which her parents chased her out for disgracing them. She struggled on her own and had her child, disappointed that the baby turned out to be a girl instead of a boy, she took the baby to a nearby dumpster and kept her there in a basket she made by herself with a simple note telling whoever finds the child to please take care of her, the baby's full name was written on the piece of paper.

That little girl was none other than Mylar Rodriguez. A cleaner at a nearby orphanage home found the little girl when she went to throw away some trash. She took Mylar to the orphanage with her and gave her to the head of the orphanage.

Mylar spent nineteen years of her life in the orphanage with her only best friend Vida who was kept beside the orphanage when she was just a five-month-old child.

Afterward, she started working as a house helper for a rich woman who took an interest in her because of how brilliant Mylar was and how she could calculate so well even without using a calculator.

She asked Mylar to go to school and when Mylar was ready to go to college, the woman told her to study accounting but she told the woman that she wanted to study business administration instead of accounting.

And so Mylar went to college and in her last year at college, the woman died and her children came and chased Mylar out of the house. They took over everything, they even changed the written documents where Mylar's name was as the owner of thirty percent of the woman's properties on her testament. 

Mylar's dreams of becoming rich and famous remained just as a dream. She started working at a nightclub to sustain and see herself through college. After she graduated, she met Vida begging on the streets one day and took her home with her. They lived together and worked at the gentlemen's club.

One day, a woman arrived just like today and told her that she was her mom. Then, she felt so happy and immediately accepted her. Truly she was her mom but the only thing she wanted was for Mylar to clear her hospital bills and help her get well.

Mylar took a loan at the club from Ozzy and used it to take care of her mom. After Sara got well, she ran away leaving Mylar with the debt.

"After all you did to me, you came back again. What for?" Mylar asked after telling everyone the story of how her mom abandoned her.

"I did that because of my selfish self. I am so sorry Mylar, please forgive me." Sara begged.

"Don't ask me for such a thing because I know deep down that I can't do it," Mylar said and got up to leave, Mrs Camila held her back and asked her to sit.

"Despite everything Juan did, me and Elio forgave him. I am begging you to please forgive your mom." Mrs Camila begged.

Camilo, Elio, and Vida also begged on her behalf, and after much pleading, Mylar forgave her. Sara asked to see little Kyla and Camilo went to bring her.

"Trina told me that I should travel to San Francisco for a photo shoot but Elio didn't discuss anything like that with me," Vida complained to Mylar.

"But why do you think she told you so?" Mylar asked.

"I don't know but she's been acting very weird since I became a model in ELICA. I don't have a choice, I will have to go." Vida replied and Mylar thought about it for a while.

"Fine but I will miss you so much," Mylar said and hugged her.

"Shit, I missed Vida's calls," Elio said as he was checking through his phone.

"Vida is traveling today," Mylar said after she heard him speak.

"What?" Elio exclaimed. It was shocking to him because Vida never told him that she was traveling and he was already planning to tell her that he loved her.

"What's wrong? Didn't you know about it?" Mylar asked. Elio looked at her with a surprised expression.

"Trina told Vida that she has to go for a photo shoot in San Francisco." Mylar decided to tell him, she immediately understood what was happening. Trina was jealous of Elio and Vida's relationship and so she decided to send them away from each other.

"I was going to tell Vida about my feelings for her today. Why on Earth would Trina do this to me?" Elio yelled angrily.

"I think if you hurry, you might catch up with Vida at the airport," Mylar told him.

"Really? Okay, I will get going now." He said and hurriedly left the house.

Mylar smiled, she was glad that her best friend might end up getting married to a fantastic man.

Elio went through the airport restlessly searching for Vida but he didn't see her. Then suddenly Vida called to him from behind when he thought that all hope was lost for him.

"What are you doing here?" Vida asked after he gave her the best hug he could give.

"Vida, I am so stupid. I have been in love with you for a long time but I kept it to myself and I guess Trina used that to her advantage and tried to tear us apart." Elio said to Vida's surprise, she smiled a little.

"Vida, I love you so much and I also want to be with you forever." He said and went on his knees before her. 

"Vida, I don't have a ring but I would still like to ask you to be my wife. Please, Vida." 

Vida was filled with so much joy and couldn't hide it anymore despite wanting to play with Elio's feelings for a while longer. 

"I love you too, Elio. I have loved you for a very long time, and I have desired to be with you. I agree to be your wife." She said with a bright smile on her face.

Elio got up, he gave her a hug and then a  kiss on her lips. Everyone gave them a round of applause and cheered them on.

"I am leaving today," Sara said to her daughter after staying with them for a month and some weeks.

"I will drop you off before going to see father-in-law." 

"You are going to see Juan?" Mrs Camila asked.

"Yes. He's getting released today." Mylar replied.

"I am happy for him and please tell him that he has a place in this house as Elio's dad." Mrs Camila said with a smile.

"I will."

"Let's go," Mylar said to Sara and they both left the house.

In their absence, Elio brought Vida home to announce their engagement.

"Please wait here." The security guard at the gate told Mylar and Sara.

Mylar decided to take Sara with her to the prison to pick Mr Juan up before dropping her off at the train station.

"Julian Wylder," Sara called in shock when she saw Mr Juan come out with all his stuff in his hands.

"Do I know you?" Mr Juan asked looking strangely at her.

"You don't know me?" Sara asked pointing at herself.

"Who is she?" Mr Juan asked.

"My mom," Mylar replied, she was also surprised and looking at both of them wondering how they knew each other.

"Sara Rodriguez Armando, the waitress from G.Home club in New Jersey," Sara said to him hoping he would remember.

Sara Rodriguez met with a very handsome, tall, and rich man who came to the club she works at twenty-four years ago.

He got interested in her and asked her out. She accepted and started dating him despite knowing that he was a married man.

After a few weeks of dating, Sara found out that she was pregnant and went to the man's house, Wylder's Mansion to tell him of her pregnancy but before she could even go in, she was chased out by the staff.

"So you are Sara, the woman whom I had an affair with back then? I never knew that you got pregnant, you just suddenly disappeared." Mr Juan said to her after she explained herself to him.

"Does this mean that father-in-law is my dad?" Mylar asked after being in shock for a long while.

"Yes. Your father-in-law is your dad." Sara replied her daughter was a bit sad by the outcome of things. Father and daughter have been living together for a long time without knowing about their relationship.

Mr Juan came close to Mylar and hugged her while sobbing quietly. He couldn't believe that the child he tried to harm was his grandchild and his daughter was right beside him all this while.

They all went back home only to find everyone looking happy and celebrating with glass cups in their hands.

"Elio and Mylar are siblings?" Everyone chorused with shocked faces and Sara spoke.

"Yes, half-siblings. Turns out Elio and Mylar are both Juan's children from different mothers." 

"I am happy." Elio said after a while and looked at Mylar.

"I am happy too," Mylar said to him with a smile.

"Maybe that was why I was so drawn and attached to you," Elio said also smiling. They got up and hugged each other.

"That makes me your sister-in-law." Vida said happily to Mylar. 

"What?" Mylar asked.

"Elio and I are engaged," Vida announced happily and Elio came to hold her by his side.

"Wow, congratulations bestie, sister-in-law," Mylar said. She and Vida gave each other a tight hug.

They all came together. Mrs Camila finally told Mr Juan in person that she had forgiven him.
